Overview
Leiltar is an Hadarotian term meaning ‘The New World.’ It is the period of history in which Itaria emerges from the catastrophic global war called Oberfaylt, whose destruction of Itar’s people reaches such a scale that its survivors do, indeed, feel as though they have entered a new world entirely. Borders have been redrawn, nations have been displaced, and traditions of old have been lost to history.
The period also carries the more technical definition the ‘Early Imperial Age,’ as it marks the beginning of a new trend in Itar’s political history. Unlike older days, when landed nobles, tribal chiefs, and other such local representatives dispersed the power of law in many directions, Itar’s Imperial Age sees the rise of singular rulers holding near-direct control over vast stretches of territory. Such figures have existed throughout history, of course, as theocrats or defenders of nations, but their authority was derivative in nature. Now, aided by expanding wealth-centers and a surge in information technology, their word is becoming law.
True to both of these definitions, this period begins in 1098 with the official formation of the house of Corlette, the new controller of Meres. This is the birth of the nation of Harotia, whose dominance spans the Imperial Age. The period ends in 1181 with the official end to the monarchical house of Marc, which controlled most of Hadarotia during Oberfaylt.
